The theme for the camp is Equipped in the Lord, recognizing the importance of young adulthood with decisions to be made and new responsibilities shouldered. There is indeed a need to be equipped and prepared for the challenges of life. And our YAs did the best way to do it by going back to God’s Word.

Our Youth Ministry held their annual Youth Camp entitled Bootcamp. The objective of the camp is to train and equip our young people to live for Christ. The military themed camp was packed with talks, games and activities aimed at helping the youth appreciate the importance of living for God. There was hardly a dull moment as the youth worshipped with passion, played with intensity, shared their fears and dreams (and lots of jokes and laughter) with sincerity. In the end, all our campers and volunteers went home with a sense of mission — to live for God. One mission accomplished, a more important one begins….

Last Sunday, a simple lunch get-together was held for all our visitors and their friends who attended from Nov to Jan. Everyone enjoyed the Fiesta spirit with the banquet hall decorated in green motiff and Leron Leron Sinta and other Filipino folk songs played live on guitar. The group feasted on pochero, lechon kawali & BBQ chicken served on banana leaves. Some braved the karaoke challenge while others got to know more about each other with biko, buko salad & sago’t gulaman on hand. The impromptu guest introduction turned out to be a pleasant surprise as the guests cheerfully & some tearfully testified of finding a home and a family even from their first visit to WIMO. In the end, we at the Follow Up ministry were even more blessed & encouraged to keep our visitors feel welcome. May each one of us continue to make our church a home and a refuge, a reflection of God’s love to as many people as we can reach out to. Keep inviting your friends and we’ll see you at the next quarterly gathering! To all who are new, we are glad you are here!

The occasion gave everyone attending the opportunity to reconnect and simply fellowship with members and guests after visiting WIN Ontario in the past The event showcased WINO’s giftedness as the members and workers became the cooks, waiters and organizers of the “formal” dinner event. Everyone was amazed at the level of preparation and the spirit of service as the main hall was transformed into an elegant dining restaurant. More importantly everyone got a sense of what WINO is about — it’s not just going to church, it’s about being a family.

Children should wear something eco-friendly. The activity provided a wholesome alternative to Halloween. Our young people also got in on the action as well.

Anyhow, here your weekly recap and update, last week few Young Adult including me volunteered for the youth camp to help out to cook and assist them for their activities, and we witnessed our Lord our God moved and touch our young brother and sister life, it was awesome experience and to our own surprise were also been blessed by Him..we will be posting the picture later for everyone to view how spectacular is the youth camp has been. so moving along, Sunday the rest of the young adult continued our campaign “Life matters” and they studied how can we confidently embrace this life. (titled confident), if you missed last Sunday teaching, you can do self study and go through the chapter ‘confidents” and then do the question and answer portion and share what you learned next meeting.

Our agenda for this coming week is Sunday Aug 30, 2009 we will continue our regular meet after our first service at WiMO center at 12:30pm, we will discuss our 5th week topic “know the Father”, our weekly assignment will be to read through the chapter and answerer the Q-A portion, and brother Edmund will be teaching this chapter. also i would like to remind the individual who’s been appointed for our Sunday potluck, if you do have any question please coordinate with our coordinator sister Arlene for more information. Furthermore announcement, we would like to remind everyone to bring thier $6 payment for the “life matters” personal booklet, also if you haven’t received one please come approach me or edmund so we can give you a copy.. so that’s all for now folks, i hope everyone have a wonderfully week.
